Happy Birthday to Me

Today is my birthday and I am 6 years old. I am having a wonderful day. After breakfast, Mommy came out of the kitchen holding a tray and she called us over to her. Mommy was singing “Happy birthday dear Ethel Frances.” I was so excited and so happy that I almost cried. Most of the times I cry because I am sad or because I got hurt, but sometimes I cry because I am happy – too happy to explain with words. Those are my happy tears. Mommy had a big smile on her face as she lowered the tray. It had doggie ice cream on it! It isn't as good as the ice cream Mommy eats, but it sure is good and it tasted extra good because we got to have ice cream with breakfast!

Mommy said, "Girls, today is Ethel Frances' birthday -- a special day for our family! I want to tell you about the day I adopted Ethel Frances and brought her home to be part of my family." If I could talk, I would have told Mommy that she chose my favorite story to tell on my special day! I love that story so much I used it in the beginning of my book so I can share it with everybody who reads it. LuLu and Izzy love that story, too, and they know that Mommy will tell the stories about when she adopted them on their birthdays. After we listened to Mommy tell my story, Mommy went to work. We are always a little sad when Mommy goes away even though we know she will come back. And she did come back and we had an extra special dinner. After we ate, Mommy sang, “Happy Birthday dear Ethel Frances” again and she gave each of us a present in honor of me! I am so happy that Mommy chose me to be in her family.

Welcome to My Life

Hi everyone. My name is Ethel Frances Miller and I am a dog. I am half Labrador Retriever and half Pointer and totally sweet. I love life and I love people. People love me, too, so I decided to write a book about my life. I am not quite finished and I am still researching how to get it published, but I am so excited about it and I am so impatient that I decided to write blogs while I am waiting.

I live in a little house with my human Mommy and my two doggie sisters, LuLu and Isabel Victoria. LuLu is part Border Collie -- we don't know what the other parts are -- and Isabel Victoria is a Jack Russell Terrier. My sisters and I love each other and we love Mommy and she loves us.
